Gelgirâs
Gelgirâs is a settlement mentioned in Katip Çelebi's Cihannümâ among the dependencies of Amasya, with mosques, a madrasa and baths, and with a population of virtuous people. Its name is said to derive from the property being called "Gelin Kiraz" (Bride Cherry) when Kiraz Hatun, daughter of Alıcık Noyan, married İzzeddin Mehmed Pervane, later turning into Gelgiras; Kiraz Hatun also had a bath built here. In a village inventory, Gelgiras is written as one of the old names of the village of Karşıyaka, attached to Merzifon. İbrâhim Efendi's going back and forth to Gelgirâs on Fridays to deliver the sermon while teaching in Amasya shows the closeness between the two places.
The Muhyiddin Mehmed Bey Madrasa in Hakala
The Muhyiddin Mehmed Bey Madrasa in Hakala was built in 1541 by Hacı Beyzâde Muhyiddin Mehmed Çelebi, and the madrasa gave instruction until the mid-nineteenth century. It was a madrasa of the same class as the Kasım Bey Madrasa and popular in the area, and since it stood near the village bath, many leading scholars taught here. İbrâhim Efendi moved to Amasya with his teacher Eğraklızâde, and obtained this post in Hakala from there. For Eşref Abdurrahman Efendi's records see 6-142. No separate record was found about his teacher Eğraklızâde Mehmed Efendi.
